  • Ah, yes, I'm beginning to see what the 'his behavior is justified by previous pages' crowd was talking about. He's totally not being a creep here.

Oh yes definitely. You see, he was being aggressive and then was told no and he immediately stopped. He's a real bastard.

    "Hey watch the teeth"
"Okay fine you can fuck me"
    "What? No!"
"Okay fine, how about this instead?"
Like, are you even reading the same dialog?

So they are both into it - both of them are wanting to do something.
Is your argument that after he said no @anal that means no we're done just stop entirely?
He didn't launch into optionB he literally just asked him if he wanted to try something else lmao

OH I remember you! You're the guy that literally said Andy was "going full rapist" a few pages ago.
It would be fascinating to hear you elaborate.

Admittedly, 'gone full rapist' may have been an overreaction. I stand by him forcing himself on Cooper, who at the time was clearly trying to not be seen, and then locking the door was giving off super rapey vibes, however.
And that really isn't helped by this page. Like, 'I don't even care how this goes down, just have sex with me.'

So this isn't just some random guy seeing another guy and just going for it super aggressively. These guys have a ton of history together, including sexual history together.
All times they have interacted sexually, including this time, they have both been willing participants.
Cooper has had control of the situation so far --> at no point did he try to stop Andy where Andy didn't listen to him.
It doesn't seem like a reasonable position to take to say Andy's being "rapey" or even "creepy" just because he is being aggressive in this encounter.
They are literally on the brink of full on dating and have banged more than once before.

Sex isn't just dialogue. Look at what the characters are doing and how they are reacting as well.

I like how you get downvotes for being able to read the room. Cooper obviously wants Andy he has wanted him since the beginning he just doesn't want anal as all their friends would hear them which is a legitimate reason to not want it. I feel like the people who downvote you truly don't understand how Cooper is quite sad tbh. Cooper is a man who literally has fought to admit he is gay & be comfortable with it due to how he was raised Andy helped him get there he still has feelings for Andy anyone can see that. Though I will admit maybe not the best time for Andy to be doing this Cooper clearly is enjoying it & STILL has feelings for Andy.

  • As Coop begins to confront his own flaws, I have a feeling Andy's own are gonna become much more pronounced. Something tells me this encounter is gonna mark a turning point for that.

To further with my post I feel like more people are upset because Cooper isn't with their "beloved" River then they are to see Cooper ACTUALLY happy for once with the man who he ACTUALLY likes. People get upset when their fantasies are messed with its funny how the same ones saying Andy is creepy are creepy about wanting Cooper FORCED with River lmao.

  • Sooo... can someone explain to me why this comic has had several serious based around it? Also why is it so liked? Im not specifically talking about this page just the comic in general

Because the writing itself is pretty good. The artist/writer knows how to set up a compelling story.
It's just that the characters are rather... polarizing.

Bi sexual character that has had a bad upbringing with a homophobic father who is trying to find himself & accept himself for being gay. Least that's why I like it because I can relate to it from my life experiences.

    Okay but why tho?

Because he is being sexually aggressive, and not in an endearing or healthy way. Then he continues to push a partner, who has made several protestations of discomfort about the speed and the manner of this interaction.

Nothing happening here is cool in any way, shape or form, and Andy is giving off some seriously bad vibes.

You give me the vibe of someone who believes that people can’t be assaulted by their partners.
They may have history but Andy is being incredibly unhealthy. As fractalmaximus quite perfectly said, “'I don't even care how this goes down, just have sex with me.’”

Now story wise Andy is allowed to be kind of toxic, but it doesn’t take a genius to understand why people feel uncomfortable about it, especially as Cooper starts confronting his own douchebaggery. I’m pretty sure Andy is about to be slapped in the face with a mirror but if he doesn’t get over this jealousy and stop lashing out then I’ll be disappointed

Of course a partner can assault you. But you have to admit the bar is different.
There is a MASSIVE difference between
Sitting on a park bench with my BF and randomly grabbing his dick
    vs
Sitting on a park bench with a stranger and randomly grabbing his dick.

You say "story wise Andy is allowed to be kind of toxic", I wouldn't say "allowed" but it is -understandable-.
Why would you then immediately say it isn't hard to understand why people feel uncomfortable?
The people acting uncomfortable seem to be largely pretending the situation is like the latter example given above.
If Cooper doesn't like this situation, his body language, actions, and what he is actually saying do not convey that at all.

ASIDE: I mean people aren't even thinking in this discussion. You can tell they are just going down the line and downvoting without reading or thinking about anything I'm typing lmao.
The comment where I mentioned that someone said a specific thing, currently is at -6. I AM LITERALLY JUST STATING A FACT and asking for them to elaborate. Which led to a perfectly healthy discussion, they even backpedaled a bit on that wording which was refreshing.

    I'll elaborate:

    Previous Page:
Absolutely no fight, no verbal queues to stop. All he said to Andy before the last panel was "Wuh-ahh..... E-easy.."
Easy? Wtf I thought Andy was basically being a creep and/or rapey? Why would he say easy instead of stop? No attempt to physically stop him -- not even motions or body language suggesting it.

    This Page:
"Best... birthday.... First the lap dance, now this-"
This can't possibly be misconstrued as Cooper not wanting this.

    "A-Ah! Teeth! Teeeeth! Slow down!!"
Slow down? why not say stop? He's also heavily blushing here.

Andy tells him to scoot back so he can fuck him.
"What?! No way!! I said no! Are you crazy?! Not while all our friends are here!!"
-----NOT WHILE all our friends are here.......... So he wants to fuck him, just not when he could potentially be caught by all of them.

Note that during ALL OF THIS, Cooper NOT ONE TIME tries to stop Andy physically or even gesture. He keeps his hands at his sides or clutching the bedsheets.

His body language heavily implies he is very much into this.
His speech does nothing but lend more credibility to that.

You misunderstand me. I’ve never said that Cooper doesn’t want it, he clearly does. I’m personally just the type who doesn’t think sex should happen unless

    1) It’s a very enthusiastic “yes”
    2) It’s not fueled by negative emotions such as jealousy

Right now Andy is upset and a bit pushy because of it and that, for me personally, is a turn off and a sign to not go forward.
I’m not saying this is bad, I’m not saying he can’t, all I’m saying is that stuff like this can be a little dicey and problematic and it should be expected that people would be vocal about it. Andy is the one who will be hurt by this in the long run, I am worried for h i m as well.

And for the record, grabbing your best friends dick can be arguably worse because they trusted you. Unfortunately, assault is rarely committed by strangers. Assault is assault.
I’m not saying what Andy is doing IS, but it is sort of teetering on that line, especially for people haven’t been reading the whole comic.

Please don’t say “read a different comic if it bothers you so much” because for me at least it’s not so much the comic, I’m more disappointed in the comments being kind of rude to each other and I’m simply putting my dumb perspective on it lol

For that same record I meant "boyfriend" but that's understandable
I hear you and agree with ~most~ of that.
    Except...

I don't understand how this is borderline assault.
The implication of what you said is that if Cooper realizes in the future that Andy was provoked into being aggressive in this sexual encounter because he was jealous of River then suddenly Cooper should feel like he was sexually assaulted.
Imo, that's ridiculous. Perhaps you could explain a little more in depth for me??

As I outlined above, ALL signals are pointing towards Andy establishing Cooper's consent in all forms.
To say that he is borderline assaulting him seems like quite the reach.

Also why the hell would I ever tell you to go read another comic? I don't want the people I'm arguing with to stop reading. I want them to stop calling Andy a fucking rapist. It's ridiculous.

i can't think of a clever way to say "i agree to this" but yeah, very important points that should've been noticed immediately.
