April 10th: The bill has been vetoed!
April 2nd: The politicians in Arizona are about to sign into law a bill that would mandate sites like e621 to either impose age verification on all users or be at a risk of lawsuits. Such system would be required to go through third party vendors, who in turn must go through a government database to verify every user's age. This is not only a major violation of privacy, but it also opens up a very real danger of identity theft through phishing schemes and other methods, not to mention that we would not be able to control any of that information to make sure it is permanently deleted after age verification is complete.
Unfortunately, Arizona is the state out of which e621 operates, which means that this law will almost certainly affect us if it is to pass. If want to help us ensure that this site can continue to serve you without being required to know who you are, please ask the Arizona governor to veto this bill.

MemberThere is actually research backing the claim that the foot fetish is actually the most commonly occuring non-genitalia-related sexual fetish in humans.
Apparently, a "fetish" occurs when, during the stages of childbirth and early childhood development, the 'sexual center' in the brain has a chance to become 'crossed' with another mental center in the brain pertaining to another object or substance whose data is recorded in one's passed-down DNA.
The reason the foot fetish is the most common of the typical "fetishes" is because, apparently, there exists a phenomena within the general human mind where the mental data pertaining to the feet is actually closer to the sexual data center than other data centers. Therefore, it has the most probability (amongst non-genitalia-related things) to cross over the sexual center in early developmental stages.
Conversely, it is actually possibly (albeit very rare) for the sexual center related to general genitalia to not even cross into the sexual center at all. This is one way how someone can develop into an "asexual" person.
(btw, when I sexual the "sexual center", i'm mainly talking about the center that controls sexual stimuli within the brain. sexual stimulus is actually a separate subject from reproduction; the two are not inherently one and the same at birth. however, they are usually meant to cross once puberty kicks in.)
