I'd like to imagine the real reason the real reason "The last guy didn't even make it out of the Alpha's den" is the fight was never over and they have been "battling" without pause.

Although something is weird, this is the original pack, but it's kinda ambiguous whether gunther recognized the females, or the females Gunther. Gunther should have known who is the leader of the pack as well if this is the original pack.

I mean, it was said before when Delta left that the new leader left with the females to the hills a year ago. So Gunther probably didn't even think about that being the females who used to be part of his pack before Delta evolved and got beaten.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble but like look at this image and tell me that this was not shown earlier? He gets beat, gets mounted, and in the last page of it is face down with his ass up while the other male digs his teeth into his neck as if trying to stop him from getting away. Then he goes back and never leaves? He got it for the first time here, enjoyed it and came back for more. He never went back to fight! He went back to submit and enjoy his life.

I'm glad there was a plot twist, otherwise the story would've been too obvious and straightforward.

Well this is an interesting turn of events. I was hoping Gunther was going to somehow end up with a female Arcanine but this... I am open to this as well.
