  • Considering that Rancor was malnourished and still fairly young, I don't find this concept to be too far gone.

I still feel bad for Malakili...

Also, fuck what everyone says, the expanded universe is more canon than anything hollywood is gonna shit out.

As someone looking to get into the expanded universe, where would you recommend to start? Anything I should avoid like the plague?

I personally can only suggest the X-wing series. You'll need a much more hardcore Starwars guru for more info.

Grand Admiral Thrawn and the Ones were made Canon by Rebels and Clone wars respectively, meaning that any character associated with those characters from Legends is canon!

Well... There were at least 6 different "official" continuities for the old EU/Legends for Star Wars Novels but some of the best written ones were the ones about Thrawn, find out which time line those were in and try to stick with that time line for the minimal amount of conflicting stories.

If you go comics... good luck as there is even more different timelines and sub time lines and what if's in those, think you have to treat each comic set as its own time line as they sometimes conflict with the previous ones they sometimes reference...

The old EU is a mess

Thrawn himself was made cannon by Starwars rebels, the old novels were not as they were originally set a decade or so after the 3rd movie.

That's not how hollywood does it. They'll selectively take what they like, then change everything else up around them as they want to shill lowest common denominator nonsense

That being said the TV series are generally far superior to the theater garbage and work within the busted lore and make it more cohesive.
