I'm so conflicted with this guy. He seems like a controlling jerk, but he seems to actually be ok. I don't know. I still don't trust him.

Call me out later if it turns out he is some super villain twirling a mustache, but some of y'all got to realize something:

Being more than 1 dimensional, doesn't make you bad.

He isn't "controlling" for NOT wanting his girlfriend/S.O. to hang out with an old drinking buddy. WHEN SHE IS TRYING NOT TO DRINK/HAS A DRINKING PROBLEM.

Also SHE is the one who wanted to break things off with basil, for BOTH of their good. (Very important)

It's like I said, everyone seems to be horrible lol.
She never even told Basil why she had to stop being his friend, which is kinda shitty.
Someone you say is your best friend or whatever, deserves to at least know why you gotta stop hanging out with them.

I think you’re looking at things in a very black and white way. Carolina clearly likes Basil and has a reason she’s not telling him about her issues. I wouldn’t just have it be “ah she’s a horrible person, so she’s not saying anything,” or worse, has no reason. Why she’s quiet about it could be guessed by this point in the story, but I’m not going to reveal it until way later.

I’ve designed characters in SB to be very grey, which I think is interesting. We’ll see some ugliness early on, sure, but we’ll start seeing the good real soon (like with Laguna over here.) We’re just wrapping up act 1 so there’s plenty of time. :)

I like it. I'll confess to sitting back and watching, trying to pigeon hole everyone into little good/bad agressor/victim boxes.

But people are obviously more complicated and your story has a sneaky way of showing me I'm rather more judgemental/prejudicial than I want to admit.

ngl, i don’t like him as much but it has a aura that feels…bitter sweet and this is a part that can resemble it i guess
