This might sound like a conspiracy theory. Anyone else think that people just throw these random characters into the background of their art so that people who would never see it do see it?

Half of the images in the background aren't even made by the artist, it's just someone elses art plastered in so that the image can have a bunch of character tags that people search for.

I'm pretty sure the picture of the Mane6 and Isabelle are official art ripped from google images. Krystal takes up less than 0.05% of the image and is only recognizable because I've looked at thousands of images of her yet she still gets the tag and this artist gets exposure to me and anyone else searching the krystal tag.

I can't be insane. If artists were including all these characters because they like them, wouldn't they draw the characters themselves? It has to be for free exposure, right? Do people get off to points on e621 the same way they do to upvotes on reddit?

Well, on e621.net alot of people WILL click the source to see more of the artist... So perhaps it's a way to gain more followers off e621? Maybe even more commissions?

Makes sense, maybe they should make a tag for that kind of use to avoid this, like "Background use"

I totally agree with you, maybe it would've been better if I drew them myself, although the actual reason I put all of those characters in there it's because I really like them, and therefore I'd want my fursona to have stuff from them in his bedroom... you're right about the benefit with the tags though

Aww thanks! I apologize for not replying sooner. But actually, the special thing about the background is that it's in 3D! Not the objects though, just the floor, the bed with the pillows and the drawers, everything else is made by hand :3

This is like one of those Youtube clickbait videos with the red circles and arrows pointing to stuff but using tags on e621 instead.

I mean it worked though, I've seen this picture over six times now.

Why this was so downvoted? It's not the only image with various characters on the background that this site has. The art isn't even bad and reminds of a messy bedroom.
