I apologize in advance for any v-sync issues. It was difficult to avoid during optimization.

  • V-sync issues? At least can't find any in the file itself.

I guess because of the resolution some software might have issues playing it back properly. Just use video format to avoid this kind of issues.

Some monitor+browser combinations of mine had horrible v-sync issues on the face, and only after I optimized it. Also I find it hard to justify using video for a second-long loop, but that's just me.

    Yeah, that's what I figured.

There is most definitely tradeoffs with gifs and videos. For really low playtime loop with low amount of colors gif is still usually better. This does still appear more than fine for me and it's easy to link FA version for those having issues.

It's when resolution, complexity and amount of colors gets higher that gif starts to become more of a pain. If using video format and the loop is under second, from what I have tested looping it twice/thrice and remembering to disable audio completely overall works these days just fine with almost everything.

Then there's of course APNG which got supported with chrome and opera quite recently, but I have no idea how that format still evolves or works and webp which is pretty much chrome exclusive at this point.

I always get semi-worked up on technical aspects when animation itself is great.
