  • I was kinda confused about what was happening here before I looked at the tags. Don't see much stuff about dilating so that's cool for us who don't know a lot :)

After gender confirmation surgery, trans women will need to keep their new vagina open (dialated) to keep it from fusing closed again. I don't believe they need to do it forever, but it takes a while to become permanent.

I believe it's for life. Your cells are always slowly replacing, and any body modification will be somewhat counter to what they expect.

depends on what kind of proxedure is done. dilating for life is something that pretty much is only needed on the worst cases (where the proper tissue isn't available, etc)

No its not for life it is only for a curtain period of time, even tho it is quite a while and skipping on dilating can cause the canal to get shallower in depth (Im sure complications could cause it to be longer or for life and maybe it depends on persedures but I am looking into having this surgery and am repeating what doctors have told me ^^)

I know this is way way late but i hope things went or are going to go well for you whenever you get the surgery! I'm hoping for it someday too if I'm honest, and getting a bit of firsthand info would be awesome if you have some!

  • Am I the only one that recognized the train surfing?

Pretty sure they're referencing Shiey's multitude of trains-surfing series'
