That point when you remember Robotnik was once actually a scary-as-fuck cyborg

You know.... seeing how Sega and japan really fucked over this character really makes me feel pretty sad honestly. When I was a kid, this was the guy I feared along with the Clown from It, Darth Vader and Freddy-muthafucking-Kroger. Why? Because this guy was evil, he was crazy and he didn't give a flying fuck about anyone. Not that he wiped out an entire kingdom, not that he turned a bunch of kids into orphans, not that he was trying to kill said orphans and cared not one little bit for even his own family. Just pure evil and took a sadistic pleasure in being so.

Then, Sega got all bitchy and demanded he'd change his name from something cool and iconic to... "Eggman" which I refuse to call him, because he was a fatguy and named all his robots after eggs and just because a sad mess of his former self. He went from being a evil intelligent son of a bitch who wanted to destroy life simply because he could, to being a senile old fool who talks to robots and has been beaten so many times, no one takes him as a threat and even jokes about it. I remember the time where he kidnapped a female, held her at gun point and then shot his greatest enemy out into space and blew him the fuck up and made his friends watch. Its like watching a bunch of kids pick on an old cranky man who never leaves his front porch and... I dunno I mean seriously, does anyone else feel like the Sonic series itself deserves so much better than what it is right now? Cool picture of course but looking back on some of the more epic moments, it makes me mourn for the gaming series I blew half my childhood on.

I totally agree ,eggman no longer represents a real threat to Sonic. Especially when you compare it to other villains that appeared since the beginning of the series ( Mephiles , Scourge ... )

Really? That idiot Robotnik scared you as a kid? He's such an idiot he makes the current Eggman look scary by comparison. Tim Curry from IT wasn't scary at all he was hilarious.

I'm curious if guys or gals in the comments read the comics (both Archie and UK). Eggman/Robotnik gets pretty dark at times. Issue 175 is my first example.sure it's not Green Goblin mateial, but it's pretty dynamic compared to the series.

I've read the comics and while the Robotnik in the comics was better than the SatAM Robotnik that's not saying much.
