You definitely wouldn't need black ice to do it, though. Grey and white ice would be effective enough at that.

(For the uninitiated, black ice is intrusion countermeasures (IC, pronounced "ice") which are capable of dealing significant physical damage to the decker fighting it by frying their CNS.)

Hmmmm, but how would you make sure the decker does not unplug him-/herself?

Depending on setting, the IC can interdict logoff attempts and/or unplugging oneself without first logging off causes dangerous feedback that is likewise capable of frying your CNS.

You are right, of course, but wasn't the IC that hinders logging out of the Black variety?

And, given the choice to either be attacked vy psychotropic IC or risk some, temporary, damage, one would have to choose carefully.

Grey IC can also interdict logoffs in more recent editions, IIRC.
