I'm still sad they retconned intelligent deathclaws out.

I don't think they were retconned, I'm pretty sure the Enclave killed them all during Fallout 2.

You can blame Frank Horrigan for killing a good number of them from what I remember.

Lolno. The whole "they were all killed off" is from people never seeing the "good ending" for the intelligent deathclaws (its bugged and was never fixed, you need to use an unofficial patch to fix it), lore from a writer at Black Isle which people assumed was canon (its not, read his disclaimer at the beginning) and Bethesda largely breaking away from Fallout 2 and Tactics (yes, thats canon, Fallout 3 and 4 both reference it).

Chris Avellone in the Fallout Bible got into a spat with the writer of much of what he considered the 'silly' elements of Fallout 2, like the talking Deathclaws and talking animal encounters. The writer of that content decided to leave a happy out for fans of his content by saying that the good ending saw Goris escape, and since the Enclave had made the intelligence a dominant genetic trait, he could potentially father more intelligent deathclaws with feral females. After this, Chris Avellone swooped in and declared no, that's not how that worked, and that at the exact moment that Fallout 2 ended, all talking animals and intelligent deathclaws dropped dead. Permanently. And would never be seen or referenced moving forward ever again.

And that's how it's been. Because Chris Avellone was an egotistical jackass who wouldn't let anyone else have input on canon, and Bethesda's team doesn't want to reference older games made before Fallout 3 very often.

Good thing Chris Avellone wasn't lead designer, lead writer or didn't work on Fallout 1.

I respect Chris Avellone's work on the franchise and the Fallout Bible, but he didn't create the Fallout franchise.

Actual Canon (as in what's actually in the fucking game) states that Goris survived either because he wasn't in the vault during the purge

As for Chris avellones statement about the "talking animals drop dead" thing

    1. His fallout Bible isn't Canon anymore so why would his external statements be
    2. Humans are, by definition, animals. So he's already wrong
And 3. What about the psions? You know! They were everywhere in fo2 there's the psychic kid in fnv and mama Murphy in fo4

As for the whole "dominant genetic trait" thing, it doesnt matter genetics aren't that simple, ESPECIALLY with the fallout franchises background radiation, that shit's either gonna be randomly mutated in a random deathclaw in Ohio or something like that, talking deathclaws definitely still exist
