The best trio. I feel like the anime could have been much better if they let Ash’s journey end in Kanto (or maybe Johto) and had different protagonists for each region from the start.

I’m definitely biased, but it just feels insincere to say that Ash has such a meaningful bond with his friends and his pokémon when the only one he actually keeps around is pikachu, and the rest swap around on a vaguely bi-yearly basis. Plus I just miss Brock and Misty.

dude, same. i personally feel ash overstayed his welcome when they made the unova saga. and if rumors i heard were true and he was supposed to be based on red, i don't see why they could just use the player characters for each generation, even if just as a base to make a new character on.
