Use the re621 plugin https://github.com/re621/re621
Gives a whole lot of features, & allows for following an artist/tag. Once you have it, hover over the tag, and on the right, you should see a heart to click one. New submissions should show up on the bell icon, on the top right.
You would need the tampermonkey, or violentmonkey extension to install Re621. They're used for loading up browser scripts.
