Well, that and a clear image of your face as well as enough background to give a general location of where you live. Also, from your wording, is it safe to assume you're holding onto these images? If so, are they stored in a way that is encrypted?

The face is part of the image that's blurred. You can't geographically locate someone on a picture taken on a table.. We never save the images and ask that the person submitting them delete them from the conversation afterwards. All of our staff is 2FA verified and we take other's personal information seriously.

But seriously, you can blur everything on the card except for the DOB. It's not our job to be the police. Our server is flagged 18+ on Discord. We report all minors to Discord for abusing their platform.

That's not what I was told when I was asked, mate. The guide image I was given didn't say anything about blurring your face. It showed an image of an ID with the DOB and photo part uncovered.

There are better forums to make suggestions to how we verify people besides going on a long irrelevant tangent on my art posts. I find it disrespectful and you have a history of creating drama on them. I'm sick of it to be honest. Stop harassing me on my e621 art posts.

It's funny to me that you think that your information isn't already on the internet, not to mention the lack of hashing. Don't get me wrong, I understand wanting to feel safe, but you're barking up the wrong tree here. As far as I can tell, I just joined the discord, and they ask for your DOB for age verification, but I don't see what you're referring to in terms of asking for PII. The process is voluntary, so why do you care?

Btw, SecOps is a combination of a security team and an operations team in a company, it doesn't mean general security. I implore you to also look up DevSecOps to see what I mean (that's the development team + SecOps).

The process they are describing is fairly standard. E621 uses something similar when verifying the age of users suspected to be underage.
No, it's not a "security risk" to show someone a picture of your ID with everything except for the DOB covered.

It's just standard practice. Some servers require it from the start, others only do it if you're being immature and they wanna make 100% sure you're 18 or older, and on yet others it's completely optional.

Not sure exactly how this server handles ID verification, though.

We have an optional ID verified role you can obtain for roleplaying and what not. We ID people who are immature or we feel could be an issue. We also ID anyone who can't seem to do basic math on their introduction.
