  • Some games do have a laughable disconnect between the quest's plot and the reward. Save a nobleman's son? Have a rusty sword that sells for the in game equivalent of the change from your couch. Prevent a war? Here's a mediocre hat. Defeat a living god resurrected by an ancient cult? Here's a pair of shoes that you can put on for a 3% boost to your armor rating.

I wish they'd just give in and admit you're doing the fantasy equivalent of pest control and killing those monsters is just their version of spraying for cockroaches, and that's why the person you "saved" seems so casual about it and paid you in pocket change.

My response ran longer than I expected, so I collapsed it.

    ...

From a lore perspective, things like the Erdsteel Dagger make total sense. Haight is a noble, rather disconnected from practical matters like combat, and very much sees himself as being above the lowly commoners, especially a filthy Tarnished like us.

Despite his talk about doing good for the people, even making peace with demi-humans, it comes from a perspective of; "Ohh, those poor lower folk, they need someone virtuous and noble like me to look after them."

The Erdsteel Dagger, despite being a mediocre weapon to us, is something only nobles are supposed to have. Finely-crafted, elegant, all of that crap. It's paltry to him, so high and noble he is, but generousy bestowing it upon us, some lowly Tarnished, is an honor, like a princess giving you her handkerchief.
His "great reward" being something dismissive, gaudy, and effectively pointless is very in-character.

(Although, to be fair to Haight, he does also promise to knight us as well, which is pretty special in a pseudo-medieval time period, even though it's meaningless from a gameplay perspective.)

The other examples here make sense too.

Blaidd gives us upgrade materials and a recommendation to a good blacksmith, and while it's not terribly rare, it's something practical and utilitarian for a warrior. And Blaidd himself, as described by Kalé, is coarse, blunt, and not incredibly sharp. But he's a good egg.

Alexander, meanwhile, has his whole "warrior" schtick going on, so the meat that makes you fiercer in combat makes sense for a wandering warrior like us. And really, all we did was help him get out of a hole in the ground. It's not like we went and killed a demigod on his account.

You got hopes up on that third one. You lied about that one.

    Are you sure about that?

In all seriousness i only meant the first two, should’ve specified that, my apologies

Also the third one is sadly not possible:(

I wish it was, where's my gay sex scene with Blaidd, from soft? Even if just a fade to black, anything. I want his massive cock up my tight virgin bussy.
