This is correct. Going on a tangent, most of the facts around how cats mate and why a cat's penis is barbed most humans would consider entirely awful and especially unethical. Evolution was not kind, but that's nature!

So I actually did a little digging about this, because I’d heard it before but I always found it questionable. Everything I can find on this subject says that, while they are painful, the barbs are actually meant to induce ovulation. I actually can’t even find anything that says they’re meant to cause injury, or that they do at all.
