only question is, why not put it in the white ._.?

because someone can crop the image without the mark on it, the artist grew a habbit to putting the water mark in a lot of places.

Anyone experienced with Photoshop can easily erase the watermark. What's the point?

To not make it easier for art thiefs of course, the artist is proud of their work after all.

Who the hell would 'steal' digital art that's already registered digitally to a source? What's the point? Watermarking has it's pointlessness as much as 'art theft'.

Plenty of people 'steal' digital art, what are you talking about? That's why some artists choose to use watermarks, after all.

What's 'theft' on art? Really. Does modifying an image or using an image without permission on some profile count as 'theft'? That's like saying 'sharing' files is 'theft' on copyright infringement theft! It makes no sense!

All of those things are theft/piracy

Enlighten me. How are they theft/piracy? Did someone physically 'steal' the property from someone without their permission, making it a 'crime'? Or did they make a copy and shared it online? I will define 'theft' for you.

Theft: the act of stealing; the wrongful taking and carrying away of the personal goods or property of another; larceny. -Any dictionary.

This means that we're depriving the owner of their rightful content, how? We're not. The owner has registered rights wherever they uploaded first, example FA has common license rights whenever you upload, as well as DA. It also means we're 'taking' things without permission as we deprive the owner of it, that's Larceny.

Maybe we should ban every picture on Google and e621.net that has been uploaded without the owner's consent... then it wouldn't be e621.net or Google Images anymore, now would it?

Piracy: The act of 'stealing' copyrighted content for their own profit without permission.

So long as the content is for non-profit reasons, it's perfectly legal under the FAIR-USE clause. Hence why mods and most torrents are still legal to be downloaded in the US instead of being forcibly taken down due to technicalities like hash-mesh codes and whatnot.

Y'all pretend you know EVERYTHING about the law and y'all know zip.

You're cute when you're so conceited and bent-out-of-shape, you know that?

  • The watermark is there to deter people from taking this image and claiming it as their own. But if someone really cares enough sure they can just edit it out

You may not be able to steal digital art physically, but you can go through certain methods to claim it as your own, thus stealing the credit to the illustrator for yourself.
